Donations

Knit hats and preemie caps:

Preemie cap: 4-ply soft yarn, such as Caron Simply Soft.

Toddler-Adult:

3oz. of brightly colored, worsted-weight, 4-ply yarn.

Fleece Blankets:

Two yards of fleece. Fleece is usually sold in 45 inch width.

Aprons:

Second hand adult size denim jeans.

Quilts:

Two pieces of fabric - 6 yards of 45" to 46" wide fabric. With a spool of Coats and Clark cotton thread to match fabric.

The Dorcas Group
"Dorcas" is the name for this group, after a New Testament woman who had a ministry of sewing for the poor. Because of God's miracle in the life of Dorcas... "many believed on the Lord." - Acts 9: 36 to 42. Today "Dorcas is still serving the poor..."

  • All are Welcome! No skill required. If you are passionate about your crafts, or are intrested in learning a new one, bring your "gear" and join us. Don't worry if you are brand new - we can help you get started.
  • Join us Tuesdays at 9:30 AM for show and tell, devotions, prayer and sewing!
  • Average attendance is 13 ladies. Always room for more.

Mission Statement:
Group of ladies who's main purpose is to be servants to our community. Sharing prayer, faith and common interests.
Goals:
Raise funds for "Body Ministry" of First Baptist Church Mims. Used by parrishioners who run into hard times and need some financial resources. Supports activities for churches, nursing homes and hospitals nationally.
History:
Began as "Willing Workers" in 1998. Renamed to The Dorcas Group 2003.
